Join us for an afternoon masterclass with an outstanding Milwaukee musician, Tatiana Pearson (her bio is listed below). While Tatiana is a flutist, students on any instrument are welcome. This SoS will be focused on learning from this year’s WSMA experience, and improving for next year. Please consider bringing the score sheet from spring 2019, along with the music.
Chairs will be provided for participants. Students should bring their music stands, along with clips to hold down music.
Tatiana Pearson holds a BFA and MM in flute performance from UW-Milwaukee. During her time at UWM, she was the graduate teaching assistant of flute and she was principal flute of the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, touring to locations such as Carnegie Hall and San Jose, CA. She won first place in the 2012 UWM band concerto competition, honorable mention in the 2016 and 2017 Walter A. and Dorothy J. Oestereich concerto competition, and placed as the sole alternate in the 2018 Upper Midwest Flute Association Young Artist Competition. Tatiana participated in masterclasses with many world renowned musicians such as Nicola Mazzanti, Sarah Jackson and Mimi Stillman. Tatiana is an active freelance musician and is a substitute flutist with the Sheboygan Symphony, Festival City Symphony, Beloit Janesville Symphony, Kettle Moraine Symphony and Rockford Symphony Orchestra’s. She currently performs across Southeast WI with her woodwind quintet Five’s Company, her acoustic ensemble Tabula Nova and her newly formed wind trio Three Winds. She is also principal flute of the Milwaukee Philharmonic, flute Instructor at Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown (since 2017) and teaches private lessons at Hartland Music and Family Music Center. www.tatianaflutist.com
